In the latest update of World of Warcraft 11.0, the new system "Underfort Exploration" unlocked difficulty levels 4 to 8. Players quickly noticed that playing solo was quite challenging, but when grouping up, the difficulty dropped dramatically. At first, many assumed Blizzard was encouraging group play.
However, today Blizzard released a hotfix, intending to increase the difficulty of Underfort in group play. Unfortunately, this introduced a massive bug that has rendered the game unplayable for many.
In a blue post, Blizzard stated that they wanted to balance the difficulty between solo and group modes in Underfort. They fixed an issue where boss scaling was incorrect when more players were present. Now, the scaling will be applied correctly. Additionally, they increased enemy health in group play but reduced the damage of certain abilities to prevent instant deaths and balance the difficulty.
Moreover, the influence of Zeck'Vail in Layer 8 of Underfort was significantly increased. This included adding a new enemy variant and fixing the issue where health bars were not displaying correctly when in Zeck'Vail's Nest with a group. Finally, the "remaining revives" mechanic was adjusted to count each player death, not just when a soul was released, to prevent battle resurrections from bypassing the death count.
However, after this hotfix went live, both domestic and international WoW players were in uproar due to a massive bug caused by the update. Underfort monsters have become absurdly overpowered. Players have reported screenshots showing enemy damage in the tens of millions and health values soaring to 10-20 million.
One player shared an example where a regular hit from a spider enemy dealt 12 million damage.
Players are expressing frustration, claiming the damage output is ridiculously high, and it seems like Blizzard didn't test the changes before implementing the hotfix.
“They just released a fix that completely broke Underfort Exploration. I’m guessing we’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully, they release another fix before the weekend. It was pushed out late (around 8:30 PM PST), so they probably rushed it and missed some critical tests.”
This hotfix has been a nightmare, and if Blizzard doesn't release another fix soon, the game may become unplayable. As one of the new systems in 11.0, Underfort Exploration didn’t have high expectations from players to begin with, and this disaster only casts further doubt on Blizzard’s current capabilities.
